Pinoy Power! exhibition at the Cartoon Art Museum

pinoy power

I’m very excited that the exhibit, “Pinoy Power! A Celebration of Filipino Komiks from the Archipelago to the Bay” is on display through September 9, 2024 at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, CA. It covers six decades of Filipino Komiks history and artistry.

Thank you to Andrew Farago for working so hard on the installation and collection, and for the wonderful collaboration. When Andrew invited me to co-curate the exhibition, I was extremely grateful (and yeah emotional) for the chance. It’s been an honor to help spotlight Filipinx cartoonists who were making amazing art for the big American comics publishers and artists who are using the platform of comics to tell their personal stories and the stories of the Filipino community. The exhibition includes work by: Alfred Alcala, Alex Niño, Nestor Redondo, Ernie Chua, Donna Almendrala, Lynda Barry, Mart Cendreda, Trinidad Escobar, Tintin Pantoja, and Bong Redila!

Please make sure to go to this! Take your classes on a field trip! Please spread the word for those who are looking for fun things to do in the city!
